9:30 am to 3:00 pm
A SCSBC Middle School Focus Day was originally planned for November 27, 2009 but was postponed due to scheduling conflicts with some of our middle schools. A recent conversation with four of our SCSBC middle school principals has been one of the catalysts for SCSBC to confirm a new date for a focus day for SCSBC middle school learning leaders. The February 12 meeting is intended for middle school principals and those who have been assigned administrative responsibility for middle school students (grades 5-8). The intent of the focus day is to explore the broad range of learning and administrative opportunities and challenges that MS principals and coordinators face within a middle school setting. SCSBC is prepared to listen, to learn, and to discover avenues of collective support for SCSBC middle schools and middle school settings within SCSBC elementary or high schools.
(Facilitated by Bill de Jager, SCSBC Director of Learning)
The day's agenda will include items such as:
- hearing from each other about the broad range of learning and administrative opportunities and challenges that principals and coordinators face within a middle school setting
- exploring how SCSBC middle schools can collectively develop and nurture a middle school program
- discovering how SCSBC can continue to support middle schools in our SCSBC community
