Throughout the year workshops and conferences may be offered with a focus on Leadership. Some events are hosted by the SCSBC or through Christian or local organizations.

Christian Principals Conference
April 21 - 23, 2010

An SCSBC High School Focus Day was originally planned for January 29, 2010, but was postponed due to its proximity to semester transitions. A recent conversation with five of our SCSBC high school principals has been one of the catalysts for SCSBC to confirm a new date for a focus day for SCSBC high school learning leaders. The February 23 meeting is intended for high school principals and those who have been assigned administrative responsibility for high school students (grades 9-12). The intent of the focus day is to explore the broad range of learning and administrative opportunities and challenges that HS principals and coordinators face within a high school setting. SCSBC is prepared to listen, to learn, and to discover avenues of collective support for SCSBC high schools. (Facilitated by Bill de Jager, SCSBC Director of Learning)

The day's agenda will include items such as:

• hearing from each other about the broad range of learning and administrative opportunities and challenges that principals face within a high school setting
• sharing the educational resources (books, websites, magazines, videos, etc.) that are priming educational conversations at staff meetings and staffrooms
• exploring what can be educationally and architecturally gleaned from new learning spaces such as Holland Christian School and High Tech High
• working together on a possible three-year plan that could provide expertise, support and coordination to wrestle with common learning issues
• deciding which particular subject groups would benefit most from future SCSBC focus groups
